Melissa & Greg were married on a cold but clear day in December with gorgeous blue sky that seemed a promise of the love that would fill the day. Their ceremony was held at the gorgeous, old First Presbyterian Church on College Avenue in Wooster and the reception followed in Kittridge Hall on the campus of Wooster College. This was my second Wooster College wedding of 2009 and I truly love shooting on the grounds of WC. The buildings all seem to be an Americanized version of a place like Oxford. European and elegant and timeless. Even 1st Pres had that very European, cathedral appeal.
I was quite in awe of Melissa & Greg’s story…both so deeply involved in a culture tied to horses: Greg in the rodeo and Melissa in showing horses…that their friends and family joked they’d have a hard time finding people who understood them. Until they found one another of course!! I think the abundance of cowboy hats at this wedding made me feel so at home because it took me back to my college days down south and the slight drawl that pervaded most of the conversation that night just warmed my heart. I may be more of a city girl these days, than a country girl…but I’ll always have a soft spot for anyone who sports a cowboy hat.
Melissa pulled all the details of the wedding together by herself and it seemed to me that it was effortless. My suggestion is she become a wedding planner if showing horses every loses its shine (though I doubt that will happen)! I wish you both the very best Melissa & Greg, and I’m so glad that you saw fit to trust me with capturing your wedding day! I loved every minute!!
