This time of year in Ohio, I normally hibernate, not leaving the house unless it is absolutely necessary. Yes, I grew up in Vermont and shouldn’t be fazed by winter. But I can’t help it – I am. As an adult, I don’t find the joy in winter that I did as an innocent 5 year old. Now the snow outside my window signals 5 hours of shoveling instead of 5 hours of igloo building and cross country skiing. And the thought most prevalent in my mind is – how soon can I escape to Mexico?
BUT…today, the sun was shining. And the snow seemed like it was starting to melt. And I decided to buy daisies. Daffoldils and daisies are happy flowers in my opinion. I cannot look at a bouquet of either flower and not feel cheered. And since that trip to Mexico can’t take place tomorrow – a small vase of daisies will have to do for now!

Other, more pertinent happenings in the world of Kirsten Alana Photography:
* It is album design time and many clients have currently submitted orders for leather art albums, coffee table albums or custom guest books! It’s keeping me uber busy. Want to get in on the action? Email me today and lets get started! As soon as I receive some of the albums I’ve been designing…I’ll be posting pictures here.
* My favorite west coast print lab featured some of my images in their booth at WPPI which is the go-to event on the west side of our great country for professional wedding photographers everywhere!! It’s a pretty fun little honor and it definitely made my day. Who was featured? These two cute kids!
* Just ordered my framed print submission for the annual Art Dash Hospice Benefit Auction. I’ve been contributing to this for years and it’s one of my favorite charities to support as well as a great event every year. Bonus: my mum donates too so it’s one of the things we look forward to being a part of together. We always meet at the artist’s reception that precedes the event & gape in awe at the amazing works donated to the event.
* I’m headed to NYC twice this Spring for photography seminars. Training, inspiration, fresh thinking and lots of motivation will be had I hope, and my goal is to come back a better photographer and a better person. BONUS: this will be my first time in the “Big Apple”. Can’t wait to see if the city that never sleeps lives up to all the hype!
…ok, back to album designing. Cheers!!
