Visiting The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas and Experiencing Bali

I’ve just returned from Indonesia, specifically the island of Bali. It was my second trip to the country and while it wasn’t my first time on Bali, it was my first time really getting to experience Bali. My prior visit only included dinner, a visit to a temple and a short stay in a hotel in Denpasar. Far too short to see or understand very much!

During this trip, which was made possible by The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas, I felt I was able to gain a much better understanding of what makes Bali so special and different from the other islands in the country of Indonesia.SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The trip included a stay at The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas as well as day trips to Ubud, Seminyak and Uluwatu.

Mulia is a collection of three spectacular properties: 1) The Mulia, 2) Mulia Resort & the 3) Villas. I stayed at Mulia Resort. I enjoyed my experience there very much and would definitely recommend it to others visiting Bali with only one caveat: it is on the Nusa Dua peninsula which is a bit removed from the rest of Bali so if you want to see other parts of the island, it will include more driving than if you stayed elsewhere.muliacoffeeresortcollagemuliavillas

The dining was incredible at the resort and I truly loved being able to dine in “The Café” where a seemingly never-ending buffet allowed me to indulge in almost anything my heart desired. This isn’t normally my preference, but this was the most well done buffet I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world. After that, their onsite restaurant Soleil was my favorite specifically for Sunday Brunch and their ala carte dinner menu.soleilcollage

For pre-dinner drinks at sunset, their Sky Bar has such a nice view and the cocktails were truly delectable. I recommend the Basilico Vito.skybarmulia

The pool at The Mulia was my favorite on the entire property and in fact, it was seeing it in advance of my trip that caused me to want to visit the property in the first place!Processed with VSCOcam with f3 preset

But it was the spa, THE SPA (!!!!!!!) that made me really fall in love with Mulia. I enjoyed a 4-handed 2-therapist 90 minute massage that just CHANGED MY LIFE and afterward used their steam room, sauna and outdoor hot/cold jacuzzi pools, basking in the sun and enjoy the slight breeze off the ocean. I didn’t take very many photos but I was more relaxed than I have been in longer than I can remember. It’s ruined me for all other massage experiences I fear.spamuliacollage

In Seminyak I enjoyed visiting Potato Head Beach Club, Home Mate store and shopping for locally-designed clothing at the boutiques in town with my colleague Jamie. We had a great time!homemateseminyakpotatohead

We also visited the town of Ubud which I will talk about in my next post and Single Fin, not too far from Uluwatu, for dinner and drinks. When you go to Single Fin, try their Chicken Pesto Pasta and order a cocktail with Sailor Jerry Rum over their special “ice ball.” It was something else!! Try to arrive before dark because the views are difficult to beat anywhere else. Of course I had so much fun there, I neglected my job and forgot to even take more than one photo that didn’t come out great. #FAIL

Speaking of Uluwatu, this was my second time visiting and it was even better than the first. It is more touristy place than other places in Bali but there’s a reason it has become so popular. It’s a temple and monkey habitat where you can catch the unusual “Kecak Dance” and fire show. I highly recommend the show. It’s not like anything else I’ve seen elsewhere in the world and is difficult to explain. That’s why I wanted to show you in photos…uluwatumonkeycollageUluwatucollage

My trip concluded with a fantastic airport pickup from Blacklane Limousines, and since I had to take 3 flights to get back home, some of which were delayed — this was a very welcome relief! It was a great experience that I would repeat on my own.

My trip to Bali was sponsored by The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas. As always, all opinions are my own.

I have had Bali on my list for awhile. We always seem to head to French Polynesia, but I insist our next tropical adventure be here! It looks utterly amazing. And I am always a sucker for good food! Gorgeous photos as always Kirsten!

I would definitely trade Bali for your usual the next chance you get!! It is utterly amazing. And it has great food. I was surprised at how much healthy, great food! Thank you so much for the comment, Andi and I am so glad you like the photos.

I’ve always loved Bali and have visited often – but that pool is a one-of-a-kind, utterly glorious. I feel as though I could swim into infinity…

The pool definitely was something else. It actually was the sole reason I initially said yes to the trip. It’s that good. As good as it looks, and then some! Thanks for the comment, Leyla!!

Stunning photos! That bath tub is calling my name! That beach party not so much!

    • October 17, 2014

Thank you so much, Ana!! Yeah that bath tub was to die for. The best. But I’m with you, the beach party wasn’t really my thing. That was kind of the least of the adventure. It was relaxing and going slow that I loved most.

I have always dreamed of going to Bali. In fact, it has been on the top of my travel wish list for about 20 years. Your gorgeous photos are making me yearn to go even more. Someday…!!!

I think it’s getting easier to visit in a way, with more options, more airlines going there and constant competition driving some prices toward a more competitive level. If you’ve always wanted to go, now is the time to start planning. Before it gets TOO developed 😉

Thanks for the comment, Amanda! I know what you mean, I would die to have that massage AGAIN. It has spoiled me for all other spa experiences.
