Back in 2010, I wrote about how the Jersey Shore was so much more than the TV show which had the bad sense to abuse its name. Even so, it wasn’t a place I longed to return to, when so much of the globe was still unknown to me. Atlantic City was definitely out of the question.
Well, never say never. That’s how you might find yourself in a Mercedes speeding toward Revel Resorts for a weekend of watching the Air Show, a little debauchery and…well, revelry.I really ought to have known better.
I’m going to cut to the chase and choose to sell you with photographs. Because my words aren’t likely to sell you any better that anyone’s words sold me on the experience of Atlantic City.
Like? I did too. My only complaints are that the service was spotty at times — always fixed quickly if I did speak up — and the hotel rooms didn’t have coffee machines. GASP! Yet Revel’s pool deck was a fabulous place from which to enjoy the Air Show. Ivan Kane greeted us like VIP’s even when we returned to his club unannounced. Every meal I had at every restaurant we tried [Mussel Bar, Amada & Central by Michel Richard] was memorable in all the best ways; and when on our last night I found myself, toes in the sand, near the crashing waves at 5 am it wasn’t with regret but with a big smile on my face that I decided Atlantic City was a place I wouldn’t mind returning to.
Never say never.
My stay was complimentary of Revel Resorts and meals were kindly included by the participating restaurants however, all views and opinions are mine alone.
